FAQ'S

ASKED & ANSWERED

Why does GoBoating sometimes request IDs?

GoBoating requests ID for the same reasons you are asked to show an ID when boarding an airplane or booking a hotel room. We want to ensure we are getting the right people on the water while also ensuring the safety and security of the community including our watercraft captains and managers.

Due to the certain restrictions a minimum age of 18 is required in order to charter a boat or operate a jetski.

Please note in certain cases if we do not receive a valid ID, GetMyBoat may cancel a booking.

If you would like to make changes to a confirmed booking (date, time, number of guests, etc), we recommend reaching out to us at least 7 days prior to your confirmed booking. We will update the booking depending on the changes we may either charge your card or process a refund to you any difference in pricing.

Changes to a pending booking request?

If you would like to make any changes to a pending inquiry (any inquiry that hasn’t been booked), you should message email us at booking@goboating.vegas and advise us of the changes. What happens when I approve the booking?

To approve your booking you will be required to supply a credit card will be charged in full for the total amount of the your charter booking. Your booking will be considered confirmed and you will receive a confirmation notification.

Please note that there may be additional payments needed to be paid upon arrival that are not included in the booking price. These payments may include add-ons, captain and crew fees, additional fuel, cleaning fees, and gratuity.

What is the service fee and what does it cover?

GoBoating adds a 6% service fee for renters. This enables us to process payments securely and seamlessly, ensure fraud and identity protection, and provide excellent customer support when you need it.

If you use a currency that is not in USD, you may see 4% added for currency conversion. Your total would be a 10% service fee for non-USD payments.

Gratuities and tipping?

As with most service-related industries, tipping is up to you. It should be noted that for boat charters, gratuity between 15%-20% is customary. Your boat captain is responsible for providing a safe ride and navigating the waters with ease, he or she is also providing a unique experience and a service to you.

It’s up to you as the customer to decide what that gratuity would be. Gratuities should be handled by paying the captain directly in cash and in person. GoBoating does not have a way to add-on a gratuities post charter.

My credit card is getting declined?

Credit cards can be declined for a number of reasons and GoBoating is not provided the reason why card was declined. If your card is declined or you cannot complete payment through the platform, you may want to check the following:

  • Are your credit card number and billing address correctly entered?
  • Is the name on your card entered as it appears on your billing statements?
  • Are there sufficient funds or credit available on your card?
  • Is your credit card expired?

If you’ve verified these things and the card is still being declined, our next recommendation is that you call your credit card company or financial institution. Inform them of the amount of the transaction and that you are trying to book a reservation through GetMyBoat. Most of the time, your bank or credit card company will be blocking the transaction for your own security. Once they confirm you’re good to go, you should be able to complete your booking.

What to expect onboard a captained charter:

The captain should go over the following with all guests onboard:

  • Where lifejackets are located on the boat and how to use life jackets and personal flotation devices (PFDs)
  • Explain who is required to wear life jackets and/or PFDs based on local, state, and federal laws
  • How to help someone who has gone overboard
  • Give instructions on safe swimming around boats
  • Show you where fire extinguishers and emergency equipment is located
  • Identify and explain the uses of horns, flares, VHF radios, and bilge pumps
  • Provide a basic plan in case of an emergency on board.

Don’t hesitate to ask questions – boat captains are there to help you and they want to provide a memorable experience on the water.
